FD Activities for the week of February 8th

This week was a slow week for our members with only one call for assistance.  On Tuesday a major snow storm occured.  Chief Riker requested all available members to respond to the firehouses and stand by during the duration of the storm in the event of a need for the WFD.  Fortunately there were none.  FD units would aalso respond with WALVAC for all medical calls to assist in patient removal or the clearing of snow on the property.   The next day members went around assuring that the many fire hydrants in th Borough were clear of snow.  We would like to remind all residents to clear out the hydrants near their homes, as the life they may save, maybe their own.

On Friday the 18th at 21:24, an AFA was received from a commercial structure on Franklin Turnpike.  Engines 1 & 2 responded and checked the interior of the building and found no cause for the alarm.  Chief Riker and several of his Officers attended a preplanning meeting at the HoHoKus FD also on Friday evening.
