On a cold Monday night, Rescue 1 & Engine 2 traveled to Wyckoff to participate in an ice rescue drill organized by the Wyckoff FD.  Other units participating were Franklin Lakes FD, Oakland FD, Ridgewood Emergency Services, and the Wyckoff & Midland Park VAC.  Members donned red encapsulated suits and entered the water while other personnel used an ice sled, traveled across the ice and "rescued" the victims.  Crews on the shore pulled the rescuers and their victims to safety.  A well orchestrated event for the local Departments to practice their skills.  The Ridgewood Emergency Services set up a heated tent for personnel to change out of the entry suits, or if necessary, dry off.

The Oakland, Franklin Lakes, Wyckoff and Waldwick FD all respond jointly when ever the need for an ice rescue occurs.
